The Rev Dr John Richy grew up in Chicago. He spent his entire Ministry in the Chicago land area. Undergraduate degree: BA English and education, M.Div and master's degree in Theology and a Doctorate degree from The Lutheran School of Theology, University of Chicago. Ordained through Concordia Theological Seminary , Ft . Wayne, In. He and his wife Helene( Late) have four children and five grandchildren. St John's called pastor Richy in 2017. He resides in Lansing.
Douglas Rebeck Church Secretary
Douglas has served as St. John's Lutheran Church secretary ("Administrative Assistant to the Pastor") since October 8, 2013. Doug was born in Cleveland, Ohio, living all 22 years in Euclid, Ohio. He attended Concordia Jr. College, Ann Arbor, MI and then Concordia Teachers' College in River Forest, IL. In 1985, he received his Master's in Administration Degree from Concordia College, River Forest. He has served the Northern Illinois District as a Lutheran teacher and later as a principal for 36 years, serving a number of congregations. Doug was married to Robbyn (Miller) in 1978. Doug loves building model cars and watching Mecum Auto Auctions on TV. Doug and Robbyn are dog parents to Cuddles, a Havanese puppy.
Sue Olsen Music Director
Sue holds a Bachelor of Science in Education degree from Illinois State University and is a Commissioned Minister of Religion through the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod (Concordia University - River Forest). Sue has been a Lutheran Educator since 2005. Originally from Galesburg, Illinois, she has always been involved in many facets of her church, most notably in music ministry. Sue is an accomplished flutist and an active member of St. John’s. She continues to share her passion for music with the congregation and is the Choir and Chime Choir director.
KYLE CASTILLO ORGANIST
Born in Chicago, Kyle began taking piano lessons at age 9. After graduating from the University of Illinois in Urbana, he began playing organ at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Chicago until it closed in 2015. He has been at Saint John’s since. When not working or playing the organ, he enjoys cooking and grilling and cheering for the Bears and the Cubs.
